I played three separate boardgames tonight with Andrew, and I lost all of them. Thud, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit. And then I tried to turn him into an X-Files fan and I lost on that, too!
Still, it was a fun night. I hope we can fit in a few more of them before moving. Actually I hope we can keep doing it after the move, too, although probably slightly less often!
I am often a not-very-sociable person, but when I do see people I surprise myself with how much I enjoy it. I have seen people every day since Wednesday, and again tomorrow. That's four days in a row! For a time when I'm not working, that's unusual for me! I really need to do it more. Anybody want to come over on Sunday?!

You know what, I wuld have come on over if I was not working on Sunday afternoon. I leave home at midday to go to work. I start at 1pm and finsh about 9:30pm. I think we would get along well. :)

What's Thud?
Thud is a game derived from an originally fictional game featured in the Terry Pratchett novel of the same name. Dwarves v Trolls, it's fun but very difficult to get the hang of.
I'd come over on Sunday, but I'm working. Oh no, wait, I'm not. But it's my only day off.
Besides, you're a girl. You'd lose at whatever game we played. So I'll just stay at home and freeze.
(Stace, you may be a bit of a solitary lass and not so sociable in person, but you sure are sociable in the blogosphere.
And that's a good thing.)
WW, maybe next Sunday, eh? ;) It's so easy to be sociable online... you can ignore people or specific things they say, you can take time to think and/or re-type what you're saying, and you never have to think about a person's reaction to you because they're hundreds of miles away and you can't see them. Actually over the years, conversing online a lot has given me a great deal more confidence in the real world. I know that sort of sounds contradictory, but I guess online I realised there really are people out there I can relate to, so it became less traumatic to try and find them!

It all makes perfect sense to me.
The thing is, you CAN see something about people in how and what they write.
You can see inside their souls, if only in a limited way, like a horse with blinders on.
But you still can see.
I can't remember the last time I played Monopoly. But I really like board games too. Have you played Taboo?
And yes, it can be weird sometimes. I don't consider myself sociable but a lot of people think I am. Like you said, maybe it is easier in the blogosphere.
Oh, Stace, I love to play board games and when our son Daniel was still at home we played them all of the time, especially during the cold winter months. Ed is not much for playing board games. Soooo, I play games on the computer. Some of my faves are Tetris, Text Twist, Super Collapse, Literati, just to name a few. Sometimes we have a game and pizza night at church for everyone of all ages. I always enjoy these so much!
Oh, and I know what you mean about the sociable thing. I consider myself to be very sociable, but since not being able to get out very much, I've become maybe a little less so, yet when I make myself go out and am able to be around people, I feel so much better. I am truly so thankful for my computer these days because it does help me to stay connected when I am not able to otherwise.
