It's amazing how tired you can get when you're actually doing stuff all day. I feel like just collapsing on the bed and sleeping... but I will be strong! If I sleep now, I may not sleep later, and that means I may wake up tired tomorrow and have to go to work feeling like death.

I find it hard to believe that this is what life is all about. Work till you're too old, bludge till you die. Up early, rush for the train, work, come home and collapse... day in, day out. There must be more to life. What is the purpose of human life if this is what we do? As humans, we believe we're so smart... but I reckon any animal has a better life than a human, even though they don't know it. If we're so smart, how come we can't figure out a better lifestyle? How come we can't truly fend for ourselves, alone we would flounder while together we strive? Even a mouse finds it's own food, and doesn't rely on other mice to pay it, or work the cash registers at the mouse-supermarket. Why is it that humans alone feel the need to work for others to survive?

The sky looks funny right now. There's blue to the east, but the thick dark clouds are rapidly advancing. It looks rather menacing, actually. Like some kind of science fiction movie or something. I guess because there's such a sharp contrast between the blue and the grey. Usually there's some in-between, instead of that thick frontier.

My friend David (as opposed to my boyfriend Dave) enrolled in Swinburne Uni today, that's right across the road from my place. I would say that's pretty cool because maybe I could see him more often, but I'll probably be working when he's around here. Unless he has classes finishing around six!

Day 2 of work. I wonder how long until I stop counting? It was better today, Bec even said I was getting good on the phones, although I'm still having some problems with names! I wonder how I'll do when Cynthia (the girl I'm replacing) and Bec (supervisor) are both gone... Cynth's leaving, obviously, and Bec's going on her honeymoon in a couple of weeks.

My Sandi told me to call her last night, to tell her how work went. (She's backwards, doesn't have the net!) Anyway, I forgot, and just called her tonight instead. She said to call her back later. I wonder if it's later yet. Well, it is later, but only five minutes later.

Tuesday, January 28, 2003

Work was less traumatic than I thought it would be! Answering the phones got me a little nervous though... because I couldn't remember who was who ("Can I speak to Jo? Sure, hang on... oh shit, Jo's not here" etc), and didn't really know how to answer most enquiries. I suppose it's just a matter of learning their procedures, names, habits, and a little self-confidence. Easy! :P

Also my kitty got approved and you can see her now at rate my kitten (link goes directly to my Tiffy). She's a bit funny-looking in that picture, but really she's cute as the metaphorical button. Although buttons aren't that cute really. So I suppose she's about as cute as a cat who's not really all that cute.

Oh wow... Remember "The Secret Garden"? Well I just found a text file of the entire book online. Follow the link! I love that story, I'm going to read the whole thing right now!
I've just uploaded a picture of my cat to ratemykitten.com, and I was browsing through some of the other pictures, they're so cute!!! If you go there, click on the "Search" link on the left and type in "tiffy", that's my cat's name so it should come up once the picture's been approved. It's not the best picture of her, in fact it looks like she's thinking, "Go away and stop taking pictures of me!" but it's still cute!

My parents have just been, had tea, and gone. I'm just like my dad in that I tell stories over and over again, forgetting what I already told to who. It gets annoying when I'm on the receiving end! Anyway, it sounds like they're pretty happy in their new house, and they're being sociable which is great.

I have recently been introduced to the music of Tripod! Amazingly amusing, fantastically funny, and I can't think of another two relevant words that start with the same letter. Darn alliteration.

I opened up the bloggy editor with something in my head to write. I knew what I wanted to say, and I knew how I was going to say it. And now... I've forgotten. It's like walking into the kitchen knowing you were going to get something or do something... but what???
Now about twenty minutes has gone past, I've read a couple of webpages and a bit of a book, so any chance that original thought had of returning is now void.

I now find myself wondering if my blog is at all interesting to anybody other than myself. Of course it's virtually impossible to say, because not a single unbiased person has read it. Critisisms of other blogs of which I have read reviews include inflexible or simply poor designs, writing centering on news stories, broken links, and poor spelling and grammar. As far as I can tell, this blog has none of those issues. But that doesn't necessarily make it interesting. One hopes that some sort of personality comes through in my writing... Although I think that's an area that needs work - I tend to write in a bit of a formal mode at times, which doesn't reveal the facts that I'm a huge Terry Pratchett fan, that I carried a towel around for an entire day two weeks after Douglas Adams died (it was blue and fluffy), and that I own every BlackAdder episode ever made on DVD.

Anyway, I'm going to go and sweat now. I'm doing an awful lot of it, it must be important, so I figure I should devote some time to it exclusively.

*wave*
Serena won, woo!

For some reason I was comparing Aussie rules footballers (and probably American footballers too) with tennis players. I've never heard an interview where a tennis player sounded stupid - sometimes perhaps they didn't quite understand English properly, but they did their best with a foreign language and didn't sound dumb. But footballers so often sound utterly dumb.
I don't know why I made that comparison. I mean, could two sports be any more different, than football and tennis? Well, they probably could. But it's a figure of speech, which means it doesn't have to be correct as such!
Ugh, it's sooooo hot! 43 degrees Celsius right now, and according to Online Conversion that's 109.4 degrees Fahrenheit. I think I'm melting!

The Williams sisters are playing tennis in this heat! The Australian Open championship match. Although the roof at the Rod Laver Arena is closed, I don't know if that helps. It's going to be a long match, and rather boring in my opinion, I'm a little tired of watching the Williams sisters play each other. After all, this is only about the fifth grand slam title they've competed for.
It looks like Serena's wearing orange undies. Weird, because I am too. Maybe it's just a kind of inner layer of her skirt, though. Whatever it is, it's definately orange. I know my colours. Yup.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You gotta take a look at this picture, it's hilarious!!!
The entire city has been shrouded in a haze of smoke for days, from the bushfires in the northeast. The signs along the highway all said
SMOG ALERT, POOR VISIBILITY
I find it ironic that they put signs up to tell us we can't see.

Am I the only Meat Loaf fan remaining? I can't help but think "the signs along the highway all said caution, kids at play".

I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored. I'm bored.

Get the picture?
Well, I've fiddled around with designs for a template, I had one cool one I wanted to use... but for some reason it wouldn't work properly. I'm looking into it. The way in which is was not working was, only the first paragraph of each entry was formatted correctly, every time there was a line break the text went back to the default, black Times New Roman. I haven't figured out why yet. But like I said, I'm looking into it. Anyway, this is how it's supposed to look, it's pretty simple, but I kinda like it.
Ugh, this is so annoying, frustrating, and slightly depressing! I have this cold, and it won't go away, it just sticks around... and no matter how much I blow my nose, there's always more crap to get out. It's that kind of solid yellow stuff, it's really gross. I wouldn't mind so much, I'm more than used to having clingy colds, but there's the job starting on Tuesday! I don't want to still be sniffing, or to have a red raw nose from blowing!

Ewwwwwwwwwwwww! I just coughed up some disgusting crap, and then almost threw up. I guess maybe I coughed too hard or something.

I realise nobody actually wants to know this stuff. But it's my blog, I'll write what I want! Anyway, the likelihood is that nobody reads it anyway. It's not as though mine is remarkable compared to the million other blogs out there in cyberspace.

I got kind of a funny email today, it's pasted below. (I don't know about the truth of these, by the way!)

- A dragonfly's penis is shovel-shaped at the end, to scoop a rival male's sperm out of the female it's impregnating.
- A beetle in Africa called the Goliath Beetle is as big as your fist
- Arachibutyrophobia is a fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth
- Coconuts kill more people in the world than sharks do. Approximately 150 people are killed each year by coconuts.
- Due to the time zones, Santa has 31 hours to deliver gifts? This means that he would have to visit 832 homes each second! (now thats worken fast!)
- In earlier times, masturbation was believed to lead to blindness, madness, sudden death and other unpleasant diseases. Present research, however, shows no connection. (damn it!! if it was true, women would be able to know who are the wankers or not)
- Michael Jackson won the most grammy's ever with a total of eight (go michael!)
- In the U.S., there is, on average, three sex change operations per day.
- The human head contains 22 bones.
- Donald Duck comics were banned in Finland because he doesn't wear pants.
- The shortest war in history was between Zanzibar and England in 1896. Zanzibar surrendered after 38 minutes.
- The average human eats 8 spiders in their lifetime at night
- A polars bear's skin is black and its fur is clear not white.
- Marilyn Monroe had 6 toes per foot
- By raising your legs slowly and laying on your back, you cannot sink into quicksand.
- Formicophilia is the fetish for having small insects crawl on your genitals
- Ithyphallophobia is a morbid fear of seeing, thinking about or having an erect penis.
- The only domestic animal not mentioned in the Bible is the cat.
- 4,000 people are injured by tea pots every year.
I'm working on my own template design for this thing... so far it's not too great, but it's coming along...

In the meantime, check out this weird-arse animation, pretty funny.
I just found a blog that puts mine and every one I've ever seen to shame. In terms of graphics anyway. The content, as expected, is the same as most blogs, that is to say, relatively boring. One thing I don't like is how the actual text area is so small, you have to constantly hold down the scroll button to read at a decent speed - and I'm a fairly quick reader. And there's little bugs crawling around it all the time, a little distracting, especially the spider that comes down right over the text (and especially as I hate spiders!). But anyway, at first glance, a very cool blog. I found it by going to Bloggy Opinions, a site that reviews blogs. I found that on another weblog, Kid's Korner... I love the internet, how one thing can lead to another, and another, and still another! Until three days later you find yourself on a site about fork-bending with the power of your mind when all you wanted was to find the words to that damn song.

I have come to the conclusion that I spend far too much time sitting in front of my computer, online. Of course, I have no intention of changing that lifestyle, not until I have to, because the time when I will have to is only a few short days away! Work! It is now Thursday evening, and I start work on Tuesday morning. I intend to spend as much time as possible between then and now looking like this. Nice, huh?

I think one of my fish is dying. I have no luck with fish, and I can't figure out why. I read about some people having the same fish for ten years, I'm lucky if they last one year!
God help me!!! I'm going completely and utterly insane. See that webring thing down the bottom? No? Scroll down (but don't forget to come back up again!)... it is not supposed to be there!!! It's supposed to be to the side, under the main picture. I hate tables, I couldn't get it to stay there. So it's stuck all the way down the bottom where nobody will ever find it. Ah well, it could be worse. IT MIGHT HAVE DISAPPEARED!!!

And that is not the only reason I'm going insane. I'm actually quite nervous about starting this job. I don't know if I mentioned, I'm 19 years old and the only work I've ever had before is waitressing. So starting a job in a law firm of all things is quite terrifying. It also looks like being a very emotionally draining job. Constantly dealing with women who need lawyers. In other words, women who get beaten, or who's husbands cheat on them... women with special needs, and women in very stressful situations. That stress is so easy to pick up on if you get too close, too personally involved. But it'll be hard not to. No doubt this blog will soon be weighed down with sob stories and me stressing out. If I start mentioning chocolate too often, give me a slap around the ear by way of the forum!

Speaking of the forum, I just checked it (ok, so I forgot the URL and had to go there by way of IE favourites to find it and link it here), anyway, the point being, my uncle has put a post there! I think he'd like me to give his page a plug. I think it's pretty much a site about and for the family, but its not like it's private stuff. It's kept up-to-date (or something similar) by he and his new wife Kati. (Incidentally, they're expecting a baby!!!)

Anyway... wow, that was long. Enough!
I've been told I start work on Monday, but Monday is a public holiday. I've been trying to call my agency, Just Legal, for a while now to clarify that, and getting no answer. Very odd.

Well I just called them, and spoke to some dimwitted receptionist who didn't know who I was. How annoying. Apparently somebody will call me back, hopefully Amanda because she knows who I am!

Well well well, I start on Tuesday.

Me singing Wind Beneath My Wings (218kb)
Me singing (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman (236kb)

A very interesting site about fork-bending, even giving detailed instructions! I haven't managed it yet, myself, but then again I haven't really tried properly.

I just bought socks :) At K-Mart. Dave sprayed deoderant in my face and I choked. I hit him with a sock.
I just found the BEST PAGE EVER!!! The Dan Quayle Quotes Page, it's hilarious!
Just realised there's no link to a picture of me! Dave took this one, and named it too - as if I'd name my own picture "nicestace", I'm not that vain!
I'm so tired! I've just been in the city, and Camberwell too, buying shirts and underwear from Target, but they have a crappy sock collection so I didn't get any socks. Darn. I went to Sussan too, I like Sussan.

I remember when I was a kid, during the school holidays, every Tuesday my mum would go shopping, and take along my brother Brad and I. And most weeks, she'd buy us each something, generally a toy of some sort. Shopping used to be fun and exciting, you'd get new things to play with, new things to wear, and it felt good. Now it's such a bore! Ah well, I guess I just grew up!

Tuesday, January 21, 2003

I just rapped out a quick piece of writing, after not really writing anything for a year or so... I'd love to know what you think, you can give feedback via the "contact" link, or of course at the forum.
We just bought 3 couches :) We = Dave and I, Dave being my boyfriend. We're going to move in together fairly soon, so couches will soon be a necessity. For the moment they're stored in his dad's garage.
Anyway, the couches are fairly nice, black leather-look, 2 single seaters and 1 three-seater, all for $300, which is pretty good.
Forum is up! OK, so it's not great. But for now, it'll do!
I'm trying to get a message board or guestbook of some sort organised... as soon as this is up, I'll post a link somewhere, mkay?
Check out my personal quotes, there's not much there yet but eventually it'll be quite funny! However, there's already heaps on the #the-guide's quotes page!
I was sitting at Glenferrie Station waiting the 12 minutes I needed to wait for my train. I was feeling pretty bored, wishing I'd brought a book... when an idea struck me! Magazine vending machines. There's food machines and drink machines, why not reading material machines?

Also, I have a job. Well, sort of. Two weeks work experience, after which there is the possibility of full time work. At Women's Legal Services, who don't seem to have a website. I start next Monday. I'm very excited! I've asked mum for some money to buy more work shirts, and I might need socks too.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
I've just had a very comforting thought. I believe women are higher up the evolutionary ladder than men. You've heard that saying: "A woman marries a man expecting him to change, and he doesn't. A man marries a woman expecting her not to change, and she does." This indicates that females have an inate adaptability that men don't have, an ability to change quickly and effectively, not over the course of generations as most species require, but in minutes, or even seconds!
Just changed the timezone to hopefully the correct one... so, posts should now accurately reflect my habits, waking hours, and (where there's a large gap) my laziness.
By the way, I'm a trivia junkie! Check out #onlytrivia on Austnet if you've got a minute, it's great fun! The #onlytrivia website has news, quotes, profiles, and channel stats, so even if you're not a player, it's well worth a look!
I got less than 12 hours sleep last night! Less than 8, even... probably about 6 hours. I'm actually considering going back to bed, as I have a bit of a busy day today and don't want to be tired for it - in fact I'd rather sleep through it, but I can't. I have to go to Centrelink or I won't get paid, and if I don't get paid, I starve and die! Also need to pay a visit to WISE Employment, a so-called "Job Network Member", also in order to get paid. What a boring day ahead of me. Actually, I wonder if I can look for jobs at their website, instead of visiting them. That'll make my day a lot easier. Oh how I love the internet.

Anyway, off I go to Seek to look for jobs...
*giggle* I've got a floating candle in my fish tank :) Coooool!
If anyone wants to know anything about me, I was born in Euroa, which should explain everything. Thank God (not that I believe in any God) I got out of there when I was 17, to study the Diploma of Communication and Media at RMIT (which I failed), and now live in Hawthorn. I am, by the way, talking about Hawthorn as in the suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

I'll try to keep this thing updated more often than my old weblog which is largely full of crap anyway. Actually I think I'll try to put something here every day... even if it is just crap.

*wave*
Ok, I've got the whole FTP thing happening now, this site should automatically go to my computer and bloody stay there!

Anyway, while I'm here, I should drop some links in... for instance, my pictures, of myself, animals, friends, and anything I find funny or just want someone to see. Also, check this out, it's pretty cool:

Want to Get Sorted?

I'm a Hufflepuff!

Knowing me, this will hardly ever be updated. But isn't it dandy to know it's here? ;)
