I just wrote a lovely long blog about my cactii. And then I deleted it. I'm bored. I have a short attention span. I don't know what to write. I wish I could paint. Hello! I love blogs: so many people from so many places, virtually congregating and exchaging ideas. It makes me feel like part of the world. But it makes me jealous - you might think your own hometown is pretty boring, fairly normal... but to me it's an exotic holiday destination! Almost every person reading this is living somewhere I'd love to visit, and taking it for granted as just being "home"! How lucky you all are. I want you all to tell me about your hometown - all the tourist stuff, the things you've never seen and done because you just live there! Tell me what to do when I get there! (For the sake of anonymity, you don't have to put your street number!!!)

Oh Stace, let's switch! Sort of like "The Holiday" except you get to take Aidan with you and I get to take the hubby too and the kids.

So if you would come over, I would say hit the beach at Boracay (the BEST!) or Palawan and if you still want to leave after being there I am going to take you around to ride a jeepney and then we will go shopping like crazy.

Names have been changed to protect the guilty.

I am sitting in my dingy little office, where a stingy ray of sunlight struggles feebly down between the windows tall.

1. Step out of my office and walk right.

2. Talk to Julie about books, the classics, modern, postmodern. When you get board she is also a dictionary on poetry and psychology. Exit and go down one floor.

3. Talk to Jeff about equal opertunity and the thinking curriculum, try to convince him that Fridays aren't always good because the weekend follows them.

4. Talk to Dianna about maths. Paul about sport.

5. Go down stairs and order a coffee from Anne, sit down and enjoy the view.

6. Walk around the bush or the lake.

7. Visit me in my office and tell me how your trip was as I can not leave cause they give me too much work.

First, Stace, you need to know how lucky we all think you are (well, me, anyway), for living there!

If you were to visit Winterpeg, and let's assume it was in the summer, we would have to:

1. Visit The Forks. It's an historic meeting place of our aboriginal people, the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers.

It was a mess of old, abandoned buildings and railway tracks until they made it into a beautiful meeting place for modern day man, full of neat bistros and tons of shops in old, restored buildings on the waterfront.

On a hot sunny day, people flock there. They go and sit by the river, watch the Paddlewheel Queen go by, watch the ducks and geese, see performers perform...it's great.

2. Visit the Exchange District. A bunch of old restored buildings featuring lots of bars and fine eating. Right downtown not far from our most famous intersection, Portage Avenue and Main Street.

3. Visit the Corydon Strip. Just a bunch of really cool coffee shops, ice cream parlours, bars on Corydon Avenue.

4. Visit Osborne Village. Another version of the Corydon Strip, a little more hip and far out.

5. Visit the Assiniboine Park and Zoo. A huge, beautifully treed park with one of the best zoos around.

6. Go to a Winnipeg Blue Bombers football game or a Winnipeg Goldeyes baseball game.

7. Visit Grand Beach, once voted one of the world's top 10 sand beaches (on Lake Winnipeg, one of the world's largest freshwater lakes, about an hour north of the city).

8. Visit Whiteshell Provincial Park, about 90 minutes east of Winnipeg in the beautiful Canadian Shield. Hundreds of beautiful lakes and beaches and some of the best hiking you will ever see anywhere.

That's a start, anyway...

Keshi - Syndey's not that bad! I remember Circular Quay being fun!

Cazzie - Aidan and I spent a night at Werribee Mansion during our honeymoon. It's a beautiful little area!

WW - Winterpeg sounds wonderful, I can't wait to visit! ;)

stace -I'm on the mid-north coast of nsw in a secret destination ;). There are lots of beaches, pubs restaurants. Animal parks, heritage park. A lot of people who visit decide to pack up and move here. The weather is known to be the best in nsw (that's the actual truth). Also there are rainforests, rivers, waterfall. A bit of everything for everyone. Very nice.
