***This post is not intended to cause any offence to anybody, take it as "food for thought" only***

I long for the day that the oppressed masses rise up agains the upper class twits. The only problem is, the oppressed masses don't know that's what they are. They're so oppressed that they believe they're free and happy. That's quite an acheivement. Brainwashing an entire population and making them like it. If the masses were released from oppression, they would be lost.

Imagine a world without television. No advertising, no bad movies, no worse "reality" shows. What would anybody do, without that little box telling them what to like?

Imagine a world without "democracy". No lies, no bad haircuts, no pandering to the voters. What would people do without somebody to tell them what they need?

Imagine a world without religion. Religion is one of the biggest causes of loss of life throughout human history. In the name of religion women are deprived of freedoms concerning their own body. In the name of religion minorities are persecuted and killed. Who would people kill without a religion to guide them?

I feel like John Lennon. Imagine. It's a beautiful song, with beautiful sentiments. It is a song embraced the world over as an anthem of peace and love. But when it comes to the crunch, it's just a song. It has no power to change things.

Imagine what we could do for this world, the people in it, and the environment... if only we all made a little effort.

It's daunting, I know. Where do we start? Each of us feel alone, and that our singular effort will be futile. Rise up, masses, and realise that the collective will of the people can be strong! Just look at the French - I'm fairly sure they've lost count of how many revolutions they've had.

So who's with me? Who wants to obliterate poverty, encourage free-thinking, and save the forests?

Now I just have to figure out how...

hey Stace beautiful post! I love the song Imagine and tho some ppl may think that song itself is too dreamy, I dun think it is...what Lennon states there is POSSIBLE. Just that no one wants to try doing the 'beautiful' things. Cos everyone is media-driven and it's so much more easy to be mean!

btw did u read my recent Made On Earth post with the song Imagine in it. It speaks something similar to what u wrote here.

if each one of us knew that the purpose of this Life is to be good, do good and spread good, then we'd all be so much happier and peaceful.

HOW? If we can put aside the selfishness for just a lil while, it'll all dawn on us.

Im keen sign me up....

Unfortunately it means getting the masses behind us, easier said than done, unless it effects them directly it is not going to happen...

Keshi - thanks :) Sadly I must have missed your post. I sometimes don't have time to check your blog, because I know it will mean reading for more than 10 minutes at a time!! :)

That would be great, but I am guessing not everyone is as giving as us. I would give to others what I have in excess to help out, but some people would not piss on others if they were on fire. I have seen it, and I bet you have too.
We just gotta keep going along and do what we can. At least we know WE can make a difference, even if it is to just one family, or more.

The great unwashed will never be in any position to take over the world because they are too distracted trying to acquire the neccessities of life in an illusionary world that the ruling class has artificially created.

Lennon's song perfectly captured the single most important ingredient..the elimination of religious competition and strife.
Why not exchange it for spitituality.

Plan B is to get all of the fun Bloggers to move somewhere and start our own Village and eventually an independent Country somewhere...not sure where?
You will have to tweak your TV ban though because there are a few programs that I sill still want to watch on PBS, NOVA, History Channel, Animal Planet etc...OH that is if you invite me?

When I think of elimination of religion, I think of Nathaniel Hawthorne's Earth's Holocaust short story. Check it out.

Life would be so much easier without fundamentalist fanaticism (I often feel like I should avoid the news altogether since it just depresses me, but then I realize I like to be reactionary to current events and am a student of history, so...), but alas, NH sums it all up.

As for the proles revolting, I think all of that was covered in 1984 (why it will never be).

The best we can hope for is to make our own place in the world and bring about the positive changes that will make things better for those around us. I don't know what that would be. I used to think I did and then my politics flip flopped sides - and now, now I just look for diversions in my middle age life.

Keep dreaming and figuring it out.

Stace - I agree completely. It makes me ill to think that so much of the world's population is victim to corporate mind control. It used to be paranoia to think this but it's all become true.
